Catch-up

So, while my mom was visiting - I got these lovely things in the mail.

Mom quickly purloined Stephanie's book. But she left it when she left, so all was good. It's great fun to pick it up and just start reading. Lots of information. I keep it by my bed to read when i can't make sense of things....Steph makes things make sense.

The bracelets are from "My friend Amanda" who had a new blog and is much better at posting than I am. Go read it, it's great!

The packers are coming Friday and, coincidently, so is my husband. I feel like I need another week to be ready. Maybe we can put it off.....

So here goes the dreaded picture upload.

I'm just a girl that can't say no

So, what am I doing? "Packing," you say, "of course, she's packing."

Au contraire-

I am completeing a newsletter for my lace group. (That's bobbin lace and doesn't involved sex toys, so if you were brought here with a google search, you can go now.) That's ten hours of gathering articles, and about another five or six of formatting them.

And more than two hours printing it. And about four collating it (if I do it all by myself). How many boxes does that set me back? Why not just set it at an even 20?

I hereby resolve to say no more often in California. And with feeling.

(My fabulous friends have offered to help me collate it and SnB tonight....hope the fact that I have to leave and go pick up Mom at the airport doesn't upset them..... I really love them.)

A Blogger? Who me?

So, this is at the end of my signature on my personal email:

"When I grow up I want to be a housewife."

About two months ago my husband was recruited by a really cool firm to do a really cool job in Silicon Valley. In California. We currently live in the Boston Area.

My first thought was "If he really wants to go, this might require moving." My second thought was "OMG!"

We've lived here for 15 years, accummulated way more than 15 years worth of stuff and put down many many more roots that seems possible to grow in 15 years. I have never lived anywhere longer than 6 years before. I have the very best friends I can ever imagine. They are smart and chic and tolerant and talented and diverse in style and thought BUT they are not in Silicon Valley.

You see, I love New England. I love the towns, the farms, the ocean, the mountains, I love everything about it. I love that 'you can't get theah from heah'. I love the climate, I love the plants that can grow here. I love Boston and Providence and Worcester and Manchester.

Of course he accepted the job (yes, he asked, but what would you say to Charlie when he comes home with the Golden Ticket? "I'm sorry honey you can't go meet Willie Wonka, I have too many friends here"? I didn't think so.)

The thing about this dream job.....I kind of get to live a dream of mine too - I get to stay home and be a housewife. We are trying it for a year. See how it goes.

I have quite a few blogging friends and they all thought a blog would help keep the cogs in my head moving.....so let's all see how it goes.
